Trailblazing in Aspen: How Outway Transformed a Team's Workflow

At Outway, one of our favorite parts of the job is showing you how big of a difference we can make in your work! Recently, our founder, Aaron, had the opportunity to travel to stunning Aspen, Colorado, to onboard a new team and showcase the power of Outway in action. Here’s a glimpse into that incredible day:

What was previously used to track and manage work

A Perfect Day in the Mountains

The day started with perfect weather, sunny and clear. Ideal for setting up the newest Outway team. Our first step was to review their current workflow, which included:

  • A whiteboard filled with active tasks and projects
  • Stacks of handwritten field summary reports
  • Several spreadsheets tracking various aspects of their work

Tailoring Outway to Their Needs

We began by understanding their daily operations and the specific needs of their manager. After a brief introduction to Outway, we worked on building initial use cases, such as:

  • Tracking social and bandit trails
  • Managing fence removal
  • Maintaining an asset inventory across all properties

This groundwork was essential for a significant project.

Field Work: Putting Outway to the Test

With the groundwork laid, we headed into the field to demonstrate Outway’s capabilities. Hiking through dense brush and trees, we tagged trees and recorded important information, including:

  • The proposed Nordic trail path
  • Trees that needed removal
  • Sites requiring heavy grading
  • Debris and dump sites that needed clearing

By the end of our field visit, the team had a comprehensive map showing everything that needed to be done. We returned to HQ to review the work, giving the entire team a clear, updated view of their tasks. The team now has a powerful tool to manage their projects efficiently and accurately.
